Carnivores are essential at keeping the balance in all ecosystems. They are the main regulators of prey species in any given area, which in turn keeps herds healthy and species specific diseases from spreading.

They also often have complex social structures; such as in the case of wolves or are excellent, doting mothers like bears. These social attributes make carnivores interesting photography subjects.
